There are countless coffee plantations around the world.
Coffee farms of various sizes and types exist in the world's producing regions, from large plantations run by global corporations to very small farmers who plant coffee in their backyards.

Among these numerous farms, with the rise of the concept of specialty coffee, which emphasizes traceability and regionality, some coffee farms have become world famous.

This series will introduce some of the world's most special "famous farms."
This time we will introduce the Cotowa Farm in Panama.

A famous garden with over 100 years of history

Cotowa Farm, located at the foot of Baru Volcano in western Panama, is a historic farm established by Mr. McIntyre in 1918.
They built a hydroelectric coffee processing plant using the abundant water flowing from the volcano, and began to operate the entire process from cultivation to processing and drying in a natural environment.

The current fourth-generation farm owner, Ricardo Coiner, is highly regarded around the world as a leading expert in specialty coffee cultivation in Panama.
The brand "Kotowa" has won numerous awards at competitions.

Furthermore, in order to protect the beautiful natural environment of Boquete and the lives of its people, the company has made particular efforts to protect the environment, including planting over 500 fruit trees in the surrounding area, limiting water use, and protecting untouched forests.

Kotowa Farm is supported by five farms.

The Cotowa Farm is made up of five farms: Finca Kotowa DUNCAN, Finca Kotowa Don K, Finca RIO CRISTAL, Finca Kotowa TRADICIONAL, and Finca Kotowa LAS BRUJAS. "Finca" means "farm."

Located on the eastern slope of Baru Volcano, the farm overlooks the distant Pacific Ocean on one side and the rugged mountains near the Continental Divide on the other, a unique combination of weather conditions that creates unique and complex flavors.
